Key Updates to Microsoft 365 Grants and How InfoSystems Can Help Your Organization Prepare
If your nonprofit organization currently relies on Microsoft 365 Business Premium or Office 365 E1 through Microsoft’s nonprofit grant program, it’s important to be aware of upcoming changes that will affect your licensing.
Starting July 1, 2025, Microsoft will discontinue the Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Office 365 E1 grants available through the Direct and Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) channels. These changes may require action on your part to ensure your organization maintains access to the tools it depends on.
🔍 What’s Changing?
- Microsoft will remove the free Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Office 365 E1 grants for nonprofits beginning July 1, 2025
- Licenses will expire at each organization’s next renewal date on or after July 1, 2025
- Example: If your renewal is in June 2025, your license will remain active until June 2026
- If your renewal is in October 2025, the license will expire at that time
- Microsoft will notify customers with 30-, 60-, and 90-day email reminders prior to deactivation
- Organizations will have access to their data for 90 days after license expiration, in accordance with Microsoft’s standard data retention policies
✅ What’s Still Available?
Microsoft remains committed to supporting nonprofits with cost-effective solutions, including:
- Up to 300 granted licenses of Microsoft 365 Business Basic
- Discounts up to 75% on Microsoft 365 Business Premium, Office 365 E1, and more
- Up to 2,000 granted licenses of Office 365 E1 via the Enterprise Agreement (EA)
- These changes do not apply to paid licenses, which will continue as normal
